Why did this Ridgmar home need new windows?

The existing windows were tired and letting heat and outside air slip through. In Leander, that means fighting 100-degree summers and thick cedar pollen every year. New casement units gave the homeowner a tight seal and better efficiency.

Why casement windows for this house?

Casements were the right call here for a simple reason. They latch against the frame and press tight when closed, so there's no loose track to let air leak. That matters a lot during a Central Texas summer, when your AC runs hard for months. Sliders and single-hungs have a small gap where the sashes meet, and over time that gap gets worse. A crank-style casement removes that weak point, which keeps conditioned air in and cedar pollen out.

What did the door work involve?

We handled three very different doors on this job. The front entry is a 6-foot-8 Provia unit, and two other openings got an NT KD650 sliding patio door. All doors were finished in Midnight, inside and out, to tie the whole exterior together.

What did the crew find and build on site?

Both patio door locations needed brand-new openings, not just a swap. Our framing crew cut and squared a fresh opening for the 4P-12068 unit and a second one for the 2P-8068. That kind of work sits on top of Leander's limestone soil and older 1990s-era framing, so it has to be measured right the first time. Where we opened the wall, the stone facing was disturbed, so a mason came in to handle the mortar repair. We sealed the new units with OSI closed-cell spray foam, which fills gaps and blocks air far better than standard batt insulation stuffed around a frame. A homeowner who skips that foam step usually ends up with drafts and a door that never quite feels sealed.
