Complete James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill 8.25" Siding Installation | Full Sherwin Williams Satin Exterior Repaint of Siding, Trim, and Doors

We replaced the exterior of this Austin home with James Hardie fiber cement siding. The material was HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill in the 8.25" board, paired with 4" and 12" Hardie trim. Fiber cement was chosen because it resists warping, rot, and hail far better than wood in Central Texas weather. The finished siding gives the home a crisp cedar-grain look with almost no upkeep.

We completed the project with a full exterior paint job using Sherwin Williams Exterior Latex in a satin finish. The scope covered fascia and soffit up to 24", garage doors, entry doors, and gutters with downspouts. Satin latex was picked for its balance of durability and easy cleaning under Austin's harsh sun. Every painted surface ties into one consistent, refreshed color palette.

The homeowner reached out to Austin Pro on January 21, 2023, through a personal referral. From that first call we talked through the goals: replace aging siding and refresh the whole exterior color scheme.
We inspected the home's existing exterior and trim details around the 78729 area. That walk-through let us plan the window beam wraps, porch column wraps, and every surface that needed paint before any material was ordered.
The project was approved on February 27, 2023, after we finalized the James Hardie material order and the Sherwin Williams color selection. We locked in the HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill 8.25" boards and the trim profiles with the delivery scheduled through ABC Supply.
The crew handled the full re-clad on June 23, 2023, installing Therma Wrap behind the new fiber cement siding. They wrapped the window beams in 3/8" Hardie material and trimmed the posts, then the painters coated fascia, soffit, doors, garage doors, and gutters in satin latex.
We closed out with a two-round punch and yard cleanup to leave the site clean. The project was invoiced on June 23, 2023 and closed December 7, 2023, with James Hardie's manufacturer warranty backing the new siding.
We re-sided a home in Austin's 78729 area with James Hardie fiber cement, then finished it in a fresh Sherwin Williams satin coat. The home traded aging exterior for a tough, cedar-grain look built for Central Texas weather.
Older exteriors around 78729 take a beating here. Summer heat over 100 degrees, spring hail, and constant cedar pollen wear down wood siding fast. This home was ready for a material that would stop that cycle.
We chose James Hardie fiber cement in the HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill 8.25" profile. That board gives the warm grain of real cedar without the maintenance headaches wood brings. Fiber cement holds up to Austin's heat, resists hail impact, and won't feed the moisture problems that plague older wood exteriors. It also stands up to the pests and rot that come with our humid stretches. The wider 8.25" reveal gives the walls a clean, modern rhythm that suits homes built in this era.
This was more than swapping boards. We wrapped every trim detail so the new exterior read as one clean package.
Once the siding was set, our painters coated the exterior in Sherwin Williams Exterior Latex with a satin sheen. Satin was the right call because it cleans easily and holds color through relentless Austin sun. The finish pulled every surface into one consistent scheme.
The home went from a tired, weather-worn exterior to a crisp, low-maintenance finish in one project. Everything got done on the June 23, 2023 install date. The homeowner came to us through a personal referral, which tells you how these jobs earn trust.
Fiber cement doesn't warp, rot, or attract pests the way wood does. That matters in Central Texas, where heat, hail, and moisture swings destroy wood siding over just a few seasons.
The work was completed on June 23, 2023, after approval back on February 27, 2023. Planning the material order and color scheme up front kept the on-site work efficient.
This siding and exterior painting job fell in the $25,000 to $30,000 range. Final pricing depends on your home's size, trim details, and the scope of surfaces painted.
James Hardie backs its fiber cement products with a strong manufacturer warranty. Combined with a quality Sherwin Williams satin coat, the exterior is set up to last for many years.
