Complete James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill Siding Installation | Full Exterior Repaint with Sherwin Williams Super Paint

This Northwest Austin project used James Hardie fiber cement siding to replace the home's aging exterior. We installed the HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill 8.25" profile with new brick pocket trim in 1" x 4". Fiber cement was the right call for local hail and 100-degree summers. The finished siding gives the home a tougher, cleaner face with almost no upkeep.

The exterior painting scope covered siding, fascia, soffit, and garage doors with Sherwin Williams Super Paint. We chose Super Paint for its fade resistance under strong Central Texas sun. Every primed Hardie board took the color evenly for a smooth, uniform finish. The coating protects the new siding and locks in a fresh look for years.

The homeowner came to us through a personal referral in late August 2023. We logged the lead and moved it to prospect the same day, Aug 21, and talked through replacing the aging exterior with fiber cement.
During the on-site walkthrough, we inspected the existing siding, trim, fascia, and soffit. We found weathered boards and gaps around the brick that needed proper pocket trim to keep moisture out.
We scoped James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill 8.25" with 1" x 4" brick pocket trim, plus a full Sherwin Williams paint package. The homeowner approved the plan on Aug 30, 2023.
Our crew removed the old siding, installed the primed Hardie boards, and tied in brick pocket trim. Then we painted the siding, fascia, soffit, and garage doors with Super Paint, all completed Nov 15, 2023.
We finished with two yard cleanups and a punch-out walkthrough to confirm every detail. The exterior came out crisp and fully protected, and the job closed on Nov 30, 2023.
We tore off failing exterior siding on a Northwest Austin home and installed James Hardie fiber cement, then finished it with a full Sherwin Williams paint job. The whole exterior came back tougher, cleaner, and ready for Central Texas weather.
The old exterior had run its course. Years of hard sun, wind-driven rain, and the odd hailstorm had left the siding tired and worn.
This home sits in a neighborhood full of 1990s and early-2000s builds. Many of them are hitting the age where original siding starts to fail. Fiber cement is the natural upgrade here.
Once we got up close, the story was clear. The existing siding and trim needed full replacement, not patching, and the fascia and soffit were due for fresh protection too. Sections around the brick had gaps that let moisture creep behind the wall, which is one of the most common things Austin homeowners miss until it turns into rot. We planned brick pocket trim in 1" x 4" to seal those transitions cleanly. Catching that early saved a much bigger repair down the road.
We went with James Hardie HardiePlank in the Select Cedar Mill 8.25" profile. The wide board reads like real cedar but shrugs off Austin's punishing conditions.
Fiber cement earns its keep here for real reasons. It does not warp in 100-degree heat, it stands up to hail impact, and cedar pollen washes right off the sealed surface. The limestone soil and swings in humidity that plague this region do not touch it.
With the siding hung, we moved straight into a full exterior coat. Sherwin Williams Super Paint was our pick for its color hold and fade resistance under relentless Texas sun.
The home went from worn and dated to sharp and protected in a single project. Siding install and paint wrapped on the same day, Nov 15, 2023.
Central Texas throws heat, hail, and heavy pollen at exteriors year after year. James Hardie fiber cement handles all three without warping, cracking, or rotting the way older siding does.
The homeowner approved the work on Aug 30, 2023, and our crew completed both siding and painting on Nov 15, 2023. The job closed out fully by Nov 30.
This retail project fell in the $10k-$15k range. That covered James Hardie material, brick pocket trim, full exterior paint, delivery, and punch-out cleanup.
Primer protects the board, but a quality topcoat like Super Paint locks in the color and seals it against UV fade. It also lets you match trim, body, and garage doors into one clean palette.
