Full James Hardie HardiePlank Beaded Smooth 8.25" Fiber Cement Re-Side | Complete Sherwin Williams Exterior Repaint Including Doors and Soffits

This Montopolis project replaced tired siding with James Hardie HardiePlank Beaded Smooth in an 8.25" lap profile. We paired it with matching Hardie trim at 4" per linear foot and added 1/2" OSB sheathing behind the panels. Fiber cement was the right call here because it holds up to Austin heat, hail, and humidity far better than wood. The finished home reads crisp and modern with a durable exterior that will last for decades.

The exterior painting phase covered the new fiber cement, fascia, and soffit up to 24 inches using Sherwin Williams coatings. Our crew also painted both garage doors, the front entry door, and the porch soffit ceilings front and back. Painting after the Hardie install let the color bond to clean, primed board. The finish protects the siding from UV fade and locks out moisture during Central Texas storms.

The homeowner found Austin Pro through an internet search and reached out in mid-April 2023. The first conversation covered failing siding and separated trim on their Montopolis home. We logged the lead on April 17 and scheduled a look at the property.
During our on-site visit we found fascia and drip edge board that had pulled apart, plus siding too worn to salvage. We flagged the sheathing behind several wall sections as needing replacement. The prospect stage was set on May 19, 2023.
We built a scope covering full James Hardie HardiePlank re-side, trim, sheathing repair, and a complete Sherwin Williams repaint. The homeowner reviewed the material selections and approved the work on May 22, 2023.
The crew began siding on June 20, working over several days to install the 8.25" Beaded Smooth lap, Hardie trim, and new OSB sheathing. We repaired the fascia and drip edge with like-kind material along the way. Painting followed shortly after, covering the new board, garage doors, front door, and porch soffits.
We finished the project on September 15, 2023, after two rounds of yard cleanup and a full punch list. The final walkthrough confirmed a sealed, freshly painted fiber cement exterior.
We stripped the old siding off this Montopolis home, installed James Hardie HardiePlank Beaded Smooth 8.25" lap board, and finished it with a full Sherwin Williams exterior repaint. The house went from tired and patchy to a clean, sealed shell built for Central Texas weather.
The original boards had taken a beating from years of Austin sun and storms. Some sections had pulled loose and the moisture barrier behind them was no longer doing its job.
Once we pulled the old siding, we could see why the homeowner was seeing problems. The fascia and drip edge had separated in spots, and the sheathing underneath needed help before anything new could go up. This is the part homeowners almost always underestimate. New siding is only as good as what sits behind it, so we replaced damaged fascia and drip edge board with like-kind material and added 1/2" OSB sheathing where the wall needed a fresh, solid base. Skipping that step traps moisture and voids the whole point of upgrading to fiber cement.
We chose James Hardie HardiePlank Beaded Smooth in the 8.25" lap profile for the main walls. Fiber cement is the material we trust most in this climate, and here is the honest reason. Wood siding swells and cracks through our 100-degree summers, and it invites rot when cedar pollen and spring rain pile up in the seams. Fiber cement won't warp, and it takes and holds paint beautifully. We wrapped the openings and corners with Hardie trim at 4" per linear foot for a clean, finished edge.
We painted shortly after the siding install so the color bonded to clean, dry board. The crew used Sherwin Williams coatings across the whole exterior for a tough, UV-resistant finish.
The home now has a crisp, modern exterior that will hold its look through years of hail and heat. Fiber cement plus a quality paint system means far less upkeep than the old wood ever demanded.
It resists the warping, cracking, and rot that plague wood siding in our heat and humidity. It also stands up to hail far better than most alternatives and holds paint for years.
The homeowner approved the work in late May 2023, and we wrapped the install and paint by September 15, 2023. We closed the file on September 22 after final punch items.
This siding and exterior painting job fell in the $20k–$25k range. Final pricing depends on wall area, trim detail, and how much sheathing or fascia repair a home needs.
We removed and disposed of the old gutters as part of the scope. If you want new gutters added back, we can quote that alongside a siding project.
