Oversized Andersen E-Series Clad-Wood Window Installation | Custom-Fit Andersen E-Series Sliding Door Replacement

This Rob Roy project centered on oversized wood-framed Andersen E-Series windows in Austin, TX. We placed units in the front entry, back bedroom, exercise room, and game room, scaffolding the tall entry opening for safe work. The E-Series aluminum-clad wood line was chosen for its custom sizing and heat-stable exterior finish. The finished windows deliver strong energy performance and a rich wood interior across the home.

The Doors portion added an Andersen E-Series sliding door in Austin, TX to match the new window package. We sized the unit to the existing opening and reset or replaced the surrounding wood casing as needed. The clad-wood build resists warping and fading under 100-degree summers. The result is a smooth-gliding door that ties the interior to the backyard living space.

The homeowner connected with an Austin Pro salesman early in the process, with the lead first logged back on September 16, 2019. Early conversations focused on replacing the home's aging windows while keeping its wood interior character.
During assessment, we measured the oversized openings and checked the condition of the existing wood casing at each window. Some framing was solid and worth saving, while other sections had softened and needed replacement, which shaped the final scope.
The project was approved on June 20, 2023 after selecting the Andersen E-Series clad-wood line for both windows and the sliding door. We finalized custom sizing for the front entry, back bedroom, exercise room, and game room before ordering.
The windows were ordered in mid-November and arrived in mid-March. We began installing shortly after, working over multiple days and erecting scaffolding to safely set the tall front entry window.
The job was completed and invoiced on April 24, 2024, then closed on May 2, 2024. The final walkthrough confirmed every unit sealed tight, the sliding door glided smoothly, and the casing work matched the home's original wood look.
We replaced the entire window package and added a matching sliding door for this Rob Roy home in Austin, TX, using the Andersen E-Series clad-wood line throughout. The result is a house that keeps its warm wood interior while standing up to brutal Central Texas summers.
The homeowner wanted to keep the interior wood look but end the fading, drafts, and glare that come with older glass. Rob Roy sits in the hills west of Austin, where afternoon sun hits hard and hail rolls through most springs.
The existing wood casings told the real story once we got close. Some framing around the openings was still solid and worth saving, while other sections had softened and needed full replacement. That is a call you cannot make from the driveway, and it is exactly what homeowners get wrong when they assume every casing must be torn out. We planned to re-set existing wood casing where it held up, and only replace it where the wood was too far gone. This kept the original trim character intact where it mattered most.
We chose Andersen E-Series for one core reason: it pairs a genuine wood interior with a tough aluminum-clad exterior. The wood gives the rooms the warmth the client wanted, and the cladding takes the sun and hail so the frame will not warp or fade. E-Series also comes in custom sizes, which mattered for the oversized front entry unit. A stock window would have forced ugly framing changes on a home built for big glass.
We installed over multiple days, working room by room so the home stayed livable. The front entry window was tall enough that we erected scaffolding to set it safely and squarely.
The home now reads clean and consistent, inside and out, with the wood tones the client asked for. Every opening seals tight, so the AC no longer fights leaking older glass through Austin's long hot season.
The wood interior keeps the warm look many hillside homes are built around. The exterior aluminum cladding takes the sun, hail, and heat so the frame stays true year after year.
The windows were ordered in mid-November and arrived in mid-March. We installed over several days, wrapping the job on April 24, 2024.
This was a retail window and door package in the $75k to $100k range, reflecting the oversized custom units and the full-home scope.
Both, depending on condition. We reset sound wood casing to keep the original character and only replace sections where the wood has failed.
