Why did this South Austin home need new siding?

Homes in 78745 tend to date from the 1980s through the early 2000s. Their original wood siding takes a beating here. Between 100-degree summers, spring hail, and swings in humidity, wood cups, splits, and holds paint poorly over time.

What did we find during the inspection?

What materials did we use, and why?
