James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill Fiber-Cement Siding Installation | Full Exterior Repaint with Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint

This Wells Branch project replaced worn exterior cladding with James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill lap siding. We used the 8.25-inch profile in a factory-primed board for a tight, even reveal. Fiber cement was chosen because it resists warping, rot, and hail damage in Austin's climate. The finished siding gives the home a durable, low-maintenance shell.

The exterior painting scope covered the fresh siding, fascia and soffit up to 24 inches, and both garage doors. We applied Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint for its strong adhesion and fade resistance. That grade of paint stands up well to 100-degree summers and constant UV exposure. The whole exterior now reads as one clean, consistent finish.

The homeowner called our Austin office on December 6, 2023 to ask about replacing worn exterior siding. That same day we logged the lead and moved it into our prospect pipeline to schedule a look at the Wells Branch home.
Our team assessed the existing cladding and the home's exterior condition, including the fascia, soffit, and garage door openings. The old siding showed clear wear from years of Central Texas heat and weather, which pointed toward a full fiber-cement replacement.
We built out a scope covering James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill siding plus a full exterior repaint. The homeowner reviewed the plan and approved the work on December 14, 2023, with product ordered through ABC Supply for delivery.
The crew installed the 8.25-inch Cedar Mill boards over multiple days in late December and early January. We wrapped both garage door jambs, then handed off to the paint team for SuperPaint on the siding, fascia, soffit, and garage doors.
Punch items and final cleanup were completed on January 19, 2024, and we invoiced on January 22. The finished home has a durable, weather-ready exterior with a clean matched finish, and the job closed out on February 8, 2024.
We re-sided a Wells Branch home with James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill and followed it with a full exterior painting job. The home in the 78728 ZIP now has a durable fiber-cement shell and a fresh, uniform finish.
The existing cladding had taken years of Central Texas weather and was showing its age. Wells Branch is full of homes built in the 1980s and 1990s, and their original siding was never made for our climate.
We went with James Hardie HardiePlank in the Select Cedar Mill texture, 8.25 inches wide and factory primed. Fiber cement was the clear call for this home. It doesn't warp in triple-digit heat the way vinyl can, and it shrugs off hail impacts that would dent softer products. It also resists rot and pests, which matters when cedar pollen and moisture cycle through the seasons here. The wider 8.25-inch board gave the exterior a bolder, more modern reveal than the tight lap it replaced, and that made a real visual difference from the curb.
We installed the siding over several days across late December and early January, working around the holiday weather. The Cedar Mill boards went on level and tight, with clean lines carried around every corner.
Once the siding was set, our paint crew took over with Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint. Primed fiber cement needs a quality topcoat to lock in color and seal the surface, and SuperPaint holds up well under relentless Texas UV. We didn't stop at the walls. The team painted the fascia and soffit up to 24 inches and coated both garage doors, so every surface read as one unified finish. Skipping the trim and doors is the mistake we see most often, and it leaves a home looking half-done.
The home now has a weather-ready fiber-cement exterior and a consistent, fresh color across every visible surface. Punch items were finished on 1/19, and we invoiced on 1/22/24.
The homeowner first called our office on December 6, 2023, and approved the work on December 14. Installation ran across late December and early January, with the invoice landing January 22, 2024 and the job closed by February 8.
Our summers push past 100 degrees and our springs bring hail, both of which punish weaker siding. James Hardie fiber cement resists warping, cracking, and impact damage far better, which means fewer repairs down the road.
This retail siding and painting job fell in the $20,000 to $25,000 range. Final pricing always depends on square footage, trim work, and the paint scope your home needs.
James Hardie products and Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint each carry their own manufacturer warranties. We also handle punch-out and cleanup before we call a job done, so any small items get addressed before we leave.
