Why fiber cement on a new Driftwood build?

New construction gives you one clean shot to pick a siding that lasts. We steered this homeowner toward James Hardie for a simple reason: the Driftwood climate is rough on exteriors. Summer highs push past 100 degrees for weeks, spring brings hail, and the limestone soil moves as it dries and swells.

What did the crew work with on site?

This was a new build, so there was no tear-off. That changes the whole rhythm of the job. Our crew started on clean framing instead of fighting old nails, rotted trim, and hidden surprises behind failing panels.

Skipping demo meant we could focus fully on layout and fastening. On a fresh wall, getting the first course level and the reveal consistent is everything. One crooked starter row telegraphs all the way up, and that is the mistake a rushed installer makes.

How did the painting tie it together?

The Hardie board came primed, not finished, so paint was the step that sealed it. We used Sherwin Williams SuperPaint across the siding sections and carried it onto the fascia and soffit up to 24 inches. That gave the whole exterior one even, factory-clean tone.
