The project came in through a Renaissance Patio lead on March 3, 2024. The client owned a wedding venue in South Cranes Mill and needed a large, permanent covered space for outdoor events.

Evaluation

We reviewed the site to confirm the slab could support a 42-foot by 32-foot structure. Limestone soil in the area shifts, so we focused on footing placement and load spread before finalizing the design.

Planning & Approval

The project moved from lead to prospect on March 3, then earned approval on March 4, 2024. During planning we locked in the Renaissance Patio system with a Fresco finish and coordinated slab work with a local concrete crew.

Installation

Installation was completed on April 15th, 2024 after multiple coordinated phases. The crew set the posts and beams, framed the full 32-foot width, then installed insulated roof panels across the 42-foot span using materials from Lansing Building Products.

Completion

The venue walked away with over 1,300 square feet of covered, event-ready space built to last through Central Texas weather.

What did we look at before building?

A structure this size sits on concrete, so the slab comes first. We coordinated with a local concrete crew, Barrera's Concrete, to make sure the pad was level, thick, and set for the column loads.

Limestone soil around New Braunfels shifts more than people expect. A patio cover this large puts real weight on its footings, and a poorly poured slab will crack or heave within a few seasons. We checked the pad layout against the exact 42-by-32 footprint before a single post went up. That step is where a lot of DIY and low-bid jobs go wrong, because they skip the load math and pay for it later.
