Renaissance Patio

A New Braunfels wedding venue required extensive outdoor coverage to protect guests from Texas heat and weather. Austin Pro designed and installed a custom Renaissance Patio structure measuring 42 feet long by 32 feet wide, utilizing the premium Fresco material system known for its durability and aesthetic appeal. The substantial patio cover provides over 1,300 square feet of shaded space, essential for outdoor events during Central Texas summers that regularly exceed 100 degrees. This commercial-grade installation demonstrates how proper patio covers transform outdoor venues into year-round functional spaces.

First Contact

The venue owner contacted Austin Pro through a Renaissance Patio lead in early March 2024, seeking a substantial outdoor structure for their wedding business. During our initial conversation on March 3rd, they explained their need for weather protection during outdoor events and the specific space requirements for accommodating wedding parties and guests.

Evaluation

Our team conducted a thorough site assessment to determine the optimal placement and sizing for the patio cover structure. The evaluation confirmed that a 42' x 32' Renaissance Patio system would provide the needed coverage while working within the property's layout and structural requirements.

PLanning & Approval

Project approval came remarkably quickly, with the homeowner signing off on our Renaissance Patio Fresco system proposal on March 4th, just one day after the initial estimate. The rapid approval reflected both the venue's urgent need for the coverage and confidence in our recommended solution for their commercial application.

Installation

Construction began on March 8th with foundation preparation and concrete work by our coordinated concrete specialists. Our crew systematically assembled the Renaissance Patio aluminum framework over several weeks, with particular attention to the 42-foot spans and proper expansion joints for Texas temperature variations. Material coordination with multiple suppliers ensured seamless progress throughout the installation phase.

Completion

The project reached completion on April 15th, with final inspection confirming all structural and building code requirements were met. Our walkthrough with the homeowner highlighted the transformation from standard backyard to over 1,300 square feet of covered outdoor living space. The timing positioned them perfectly for immediate summer enjoyment, with Renaissance Patio's warranty coverage providing long-term peace of mind.

Expanding Event Space for a Crane's Mill Wedding Venue

When a wedding venue owner in New Braunfels reached out in early March, their challenge was clear: creating adequate outdoor coverage for events during Central Texas's demanding climate. Located in the established Crane's Mill neighborhood, this property needed a substantial structure that could handle both the aesthetic demands of special events and the practical requirements of our regional weather patterns.

The venue regularly hosts outdoor ceremonies and receptions, but Texas summers present serious challenges. With temperatures routinely climbing above 100 degrees and sudden afternoon thunderstorms common throughout spring and summer, guests needed reliable protection. The existing outdoor space lacked sufficient coverage, limiting the venue's booking potential during peak wedding season.

Assessment and Planning Phase

Our site evaluation revealed the perfect location for a large-scale patio covers installation. The designated area offered excellent structural support opportunities and optimal positioning for both morning and evening events. Given the commercial nature of this application, we knew standard residential solutions wouldn't suffice.

The homeowner needed coverage for approximately 1,344 square feet of outdoor space. After reviewing several options, we recommended a Renaissance Patio system for its proven durability and sophisticated appearance. Renaissance structures are engineered specifically for Texas conditions, with superior wind resistance and thermal performance that residential-grade covers simply can't match.

Material Selection: Renaissance Fresco System

For this installation, we selected the Fresco material from Renaissance Patio's premium line. This choice reflected both aesthetic and practical considerations. Fresco offers exceptional UV resistance, crucial for structures that will see daily sun exposure throughout Central Texas summers. The material's advanced polymer composition resists fading, cracking, and thermal expansion that can compromise lesser materials.

The 42-foot by 32-foot dimensions required careful engineering to ensure structural integrity across such a large span. Renaissance's aluminum framework provides the necessary strength while maintaining clean sight lines essential for wedding photography and guest comfort.

Installation Challenges and Solutions

Construction began in early March, with completion targeted for mid-April to meet the venue's spring booking schedule. The scale of this project required coordination with multiple specialists, including concrete contractors for foundation work and structural engineers for load calculations.

Our crew worked with Adan Garcia's team for specialized installation components and partnered with ATX Barrera's Concrete B &C LLC for the substantial foundation requirements. A structure of this size demands precise footings, especially in New Braunfels's limestone-rich soil conditions that can shift with moisture changes.

The installation process required careful sequencing. First, we established the perimeter footings with proper depth and reinforcement. The Renaissance framework went up in sections, with each connection point engineered to handle both live loads from wind and dead loads from the substantial roof system.

Overcoming Commercial-Grade Requirements

Unlike typical residential patio covers, this wedding venue installation needed to meet higher standards for both capacity and appearance. The structure must accommodate large groups while maintaining elegant sight lines for photography and guest circulation.

We sourced additional materials through Lansing Building Products to ensure consistent quality across all components. Every connection point received reinforcement beyond standard residential specifications. The Fresco roofing system was installed with enhanced fastening patterns to handle the increased wind loads that large structures experience.

Weather Protection Performance

The completed installation provides comprehensive protection from Central Texas weather extremes. During summer events, the Fresco material blocks harmful UV radiation while allowing natural light to filter through, creating comfortable conditions even when temperatures exceed 100 degrees outside the covered area.

Rainfall protection was equally important. New Braunfels receives periodic heavy downpours, particularly during spring wedding season. The Renaissance system's integrated drainage channels and proper slope ensure water moves efficiently away from the covered area, preventing pooling or overflow that could disrupt events.

Project Completion and Results

The installation was completed on schedule in mid-April, just ahead of the venue's busy spring booking period. Final invoicing occurred on April 15th, with project closeout completed by April 25th. The timeline from initial contact to completion spanned just seven weeks, impressive given the scale and complexity of the work.

The finished structure transforms the venue's outdoor capabilities. Over 1,300 square feet of protected space now allows for larger guest counts and extended event schedules regardless of weather conditions. The clean lines and professional appearance of the Renaissance Fresco system complement the venue's aesthetic while providing the durability needed for commercial use.

Value for Crane's Mill Property Owners

This project demonstrates the potential for substantial patio cover installations in established New Braunfels neighborhoods. Crane's Mill properties often feature generous lot sizes that can accommodate large outdoor structures, whether for commercial use like this venue or expansive residential entertaining spaces.

The Renaissance Patio system's engineering makes it suitable for Texas conditions that challenge lesser products. Hail resistance, wind load capacity, and thermal stability all exceed typical residential requirements, providing long-term value even for the most demanding applications.
