The homeowner came to us through a customer referral, with the first contact logged on March 1, 2024. Storm damage on the existing shingle roof had opened an insurance claim, so early conversations focused on assessing that damage and the claim process.
We inspected the two-story roof and moved the file to prospect status on August 7, 2024. The crew found worn composition shingles on the main slopes and a separate low-slope section that shingles could not protect. Flashing and pipe boots were also flagged for full replacement.
The project was approved on August 9, 2024, once the scope and insurance details lined up. We planned GAF Timberline HDZ SG shingles for the steep slopes and a Certainteed Flintlastic SBS modified bitumen system for the low-slope area, along with a full flashing rebuild.
Crews handled the full tear-off and replacement on October 31, 2024, completing the two-day job. Work included GAF FeltBuster underlayment, new drip edge and gravel stop, fresh pipe and mast flashing, and Versa Cap penetrations. The low-slope membrane went down with SBS ply base and cap sheet.
The invoice went out on October 31, 2024, the same day work finished. After a final walkthrough confirming a watertight roof, the project closed on November 15, 2024, backed by GAF's manufacturer warranty and our workmanship guarantee.

That self-adhered membrane bonds tight and handles standing water far better than any shingle would.
