Why did this Maple Run home need new siding?

Maple Run is full of homes from the 1980s and 1990s, and the original wood-based siding on this one had run its course. Years of sun and moisture had taken a toll, and it was no longer holding paint the way it should.

What did the crew find on site?

When we walked the house, the trouble spots were exactly where you'd expect on a home this age. The bird's mouth on the right side of the first floor and the single garage door jamb were prime spots for water and pest intrusion, so both needed proper cladding before anything else. A lot of homeowners skip these transition points and just paint over them, which traps moisture and shortens the life of the whole job. We wrapped those details in Hardie trim to seal them out for good. That kind of prep is quiet work, but it's the difference between a repaint and a real repair.

What materials did we use, and why?

We installed HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill in an 8.25-inch reveal, primed and ready for paint. Fiber cement was the clear pick here for a simple reason: it doesn't warp, rot, or feed the pests that plague wood siding in our climate.

How did the exterior painting come together?

Once the boards were up, we coated the whole exterior in Sherwin Williams SuperPaint. That paint was chosen for its fade and weather resistance, which matters a lot under relentless Central Texas sun. We didn't stop at the siding, either.

• Painted fascia and soffit up to 24 inches
• Coated the garage doors, front door, and a set of two shutters
• Finished gutters and downspouts by the linear foot
• Painted the front porch ceiling and the underside of the back patio cover

How long did the project take?

The install and paint ran across multiple days and wrapped up on February 26, 2026. Fiber cement siding takes patience to cut, hang, and seal correctly, and rushing it shows. Our crew also handled two rounds of yard cleanup and punch items so the property was left spotless.
