Complete James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill Fiber Cement Siding Installation | Seamless 5-Inch Aluminum Gutters with Leaf-Free Helmet Guards

This Gracy Farms home got a full siding replacement using James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill, primed, in an 8.25-inch lap. Fiber cement was chosen because it holds up to 100-plus-degree summers and hail without warping or rotting. We paired the siding with new 6-inch Hardie fascia, seamless aluminum gutters, and gutter guards. The finished exterior looks crisp and needs far less upkeep than the original wood.

We installed 5" seamless aluminum gutters formed on-site from Senox coil stock. The system uses 3" x 4" downspouts to handle the sudden downpours common in North Austin. Seamless runs cut leak points that plague older sectional gutters. Proper drainage keeps water off the fascia and away from the expansive limestone soil around the foundation.

The homeowner reached out after spotting one of our yard signs in the Gracy Farms area. That first conversation started on February 28, 2023, and moved to an active prospect just a couple of days later on March 2.
We inspected the existing wood siding and found sun damage, cupped boards, and soft, moisture-affected areas on the sun-facing walls. The fascia and gable vents were also flagged as beyond simple repair, which shaped the full-replacement plan.
After walking the homeowner through fiber cement versus another round of wood, we built an estimate covering James Hardie siding, seamless gutters, and paint. The project was approved on March 6, 2023, and materials were staged through ABC Supply.
Our crew removed the old siding and gutters, then installed the primed HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill in the 8.25-inch profile. New 6-inch Hardie fascia, 5-inch seamless gutters, downspouts, gutter guards, and exterior paint all went in during the June 12, 2023 install day.
We wrapped with two yard cleanups and a punch-out walkthrough to catch any final details. The job was completed and invoiced on June 12, 2023, and the file closed out on July 5, 2023.
We stripped and re-clad this Gracy Farms home with James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill fiber cement siding, then added new seamless gutters and fresh paint. The result is a tighter, tougher exterior built for Central Texas weather.
Gracy Farms is full of homes built in the late 1980s and 1990s, and the original wood siding on this one had run its course. Years of Austin sun and storm cycles had taken a toal.
Once we got close, the damage told a clear story. The south and west faces took the worst of the afternoon sun, and the lower courses showed soft spots where water had wicked up over time. Cedar pollen and grime had also worked into the old wood grain, which made repainting a losing battle. We flagged the fascia for full replacement too, since patching failing wood behind new gutters only buys a season or two. That inspection is why we moved to fiber cement instead of another round of wood.
We went with James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill in the 8.25-inch profile because it stands up to everything this climate throws at a house. Fiber cement does not warp in 100-plus-degree heat, and it takes a hail hit without denting like softer siding.
Once the siding was up, we ran new 5-inch seamless aluminum gutters with 3x4 downspouts sized for both single- and two-story sections. Seamless runs mean fewer joints to leak when a Texas downpour dumps an inch in ten minutes. We hauled off the old gutters and cleaned the yard twice as part of our punch process.
The home now has a clean, uniform exterior that will hold its color and shape for decades. Fiber cement paired with sealed gutters keeps water off the walls and out of the limestone-heavy soil right against the foundation. The homeowner walked away with far less yearly upkeep and a facade that looks brand new.
Central Texas swings from brutal summer heat to sudden hailstorms, and fiber cement handles both. It will not rot, warp, or feed the moisture problems that plague old wood siding here.
The crew completed the install in a single day on June 12, 2023, after an approval back on March 6, 2023. Material staging and scheduling filled the gap between those dates.
This was a retail siding, gutter, and paint package in the $30,000 to $40,000 range. Final pricing depends on square footage, story count, and how much fascia needs replacing.
Because we installed leaf-free helmet guards, the 5-inch seamless system stays largely clear of debris. That matters during cedar pollen season, when open gutters clog fast.
