This Milwood project replaced aging exterior cladding with James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill siding in an 8.25-inch reveal. We chose primed fiber cement because it shrugs off 100-plus-degree summers, hail, and cedar pollen far better than wood. The deep Cedar Mill grain gives the home real texture without the upkeep of real timber. The finished siding delivers lasting curb appeal and low maintenance for a home built decades ago.

The exterior painting scope covered the new Hardie siding plus every trim surface on the house. Our painters used Sherwin-Williams coatings on fascia and soffit up to 24 inches, gutters, downspouts, garage doors and entry doors. A factory-primed base let the topcoat bond tight and hold color under harsh Texas UV. The whole exterior now reads as one finished, cohesive package.
The homeowner found Austin Pro through an internet search and reached out on May 31, 2023. Early conversations centered on replacing worn cladding on their 1980s-era Milwood home and refreshing the entire exterior at the same time.
By June 6, 2023, the project moved into the prospect stage as we assessed the home. We inspected the aging exterior, checked for water and pest exposure common in the 78729 area, and confirmed fiber cement was the right long-term fix.
The homeowner approved the project on July 6, 2023. We finalized the James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill selection in the 8.25-inch profile and scoped the full painting package, including fascia, soffit, gutters, doors and garage doors.
Siding installation began in mid-September 2023 and ran across multiple days. Our crew removed the old cladding, corrected what we found beneath it, and installed the primed fiber cement. Sherwin-Williams painting followed shortly after, with materials staged through ABC Supply.
We wrapped and invoiced the project on October 5, 2023, after two rounds of yard cleanup and a punch-out pass to catch final details. The job closed on October 20, 2023, leaving the homeowner with a sealed, low-maintenance exterior.
