Why did this Austin home need new siding?

We clad the home in 8.25-inch James Hardie Select Cedar Mill fiber cement. Fiber cement was the clear pick for this climate. It will not warp in 100-degree summers, and it stands up to hail far better than wood or vinyl siding.

The boards arrived primed, then we finished them in Sherwin Williams SuperPaint for a tough, color-stable coat. Fiber cement also shrugs off the moisture swings that come with Austin's limestone soil and sudden downpours. That mix of durability and low upkeep is why so many local homeowners make the switch.
