We re-clad this South Austin home with James Hardie HardiePlank in the Select Cedar Mill profile, 8.25 inches wide. New replacement windows were part of this South Austin project scope. We ordered them in late April, and they arrived in late June after a normal lead time. Installation happened in August, ahead of the siding phase, so we could seal each opening properly. Setting windows first is the correct sequence for a lasting, weather-tight fit.
The homeowner found Austin Pro through an internet search and reached out on February 21, 2023. Within two days, by February 23, the project moved into the prospect stage. Early talks centered on replacing failing siding and old windows on a South Austin home in the 78748 area.
We inspected the exterior and found swollen wood siding, soft fascia, and a worn front-entry flat roof. The windows were due for replacement, and the porch ceiling needed new panels. These findings shaped a combined siding, window, and paint scope with a small roofing repair.
The scope was approved on April 12, 2023. We locked in James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill and ordered the replacement windows in late April. Material selections included the porch ceiling panels, 6-inch Hardie fascia, and Sherwin Williams paint colors.
Windows arrived in late June and were installed in August so every opening could be flashed and sealed first. Siding began in early September using the primed 8.25-inch Cedar Mill lap. The crew also replaced the front-entry modified bitumen roof and painted the fascia, soffit, and garage doors across multiple days.
