Why did this Round Rock home need new siding?

What did the crew do about the wall sheathing?

Siding is only as good as what sits behind it. Before a single Hardie board went up, we installed fresh 7/16-inch OSB wall sheathing across the home.

This is the step homeowners never see and often skip. Nailing new siding over old, soft, or uneven sheathing traps hidden problems and leaves your fasteners with nothing solid to grip. New OSB gives the fiber cement a flat, sound base and a clean moisture line. It also lets the crew catch any framing issues while the walls are open. Lumber for this came through Gtown Lumber and Supply, with the fiber cement delivered through Southern Shingles.

How did the exterior painting come together?

We primed the Select Cedar Mill boards, then coated everything in Sherwin Williams Super Paint. The scope went well beyond the siding itself.

• Fascia and soffit painted up to 24 inches
• Garage doors coated for a matched finish
• Gutters and downspouts painted by the linear foot
• Split double garage door jambs wrapped for a tight, clean edge

We use Sherwin Williams Super Paint here because it resists fading and mildew under sun that punishes cheaper coatings. Paint came direct from Sherwin Williams Co.

What did the finished project look like?

The home went from tired and weathered to crisp. Every surface now carries a uniform, protected finish.
