Why did this Hillside home need new siding?

Older homes around Round Rock were often built with wood or panel siding that fades and swells over time. This one showed the usual wear you get after years of sun and storm cycles.

What did we choose, and why fiber cement?

We went with James Hardie Select Cedar Mill in the 8.25-inch width. Here is the honest reason fiber cement wins in Central Texas: real cedar looks great on day one, then it cups, splits, and drinks paint after a couple of 100-degree summers. Hardie board gives you that same cedar-mill grain without the movement. It does not feed insects, it resists hail far better than wood, and it holds a paint finish for years instead of months. On this house, that meant the homeowner could pick a bold color once and not worry about repainting on a short cycle.

How did the install come together?

Our crew completed the full Hardie system install on March 2, 2023. A clean install like this works best when materials land on site ahead of time, which they did through our ABC Supply delivery.

What did the exterior painting add?

Fresh siding deserves a color that makes the whole house feel new, and Sherwin Williams Renwick Olive did exactly that. It is a warm, grounded green that suits the wooded Hillside setting. We didn't just coat the walls. The fascia, the soffit up to 24 inches, the wrapped columns, and the porch ceiling all got the same finish so nothing looked like an afterthought. We even painted both garage doors to match, which is the detail most homeowners skip and later regret. When the garage doors clash with new siding, they pull your eye straight to them. Matching them makes the front elevation read as one clean, deliberate design.
