For this siding job in Cedar Park, TX, we installed James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill fiber cement in the 8.25" width. The primed Select Cedar Mill boards give a clean cedar look without the warping wood shows in 100-degree summers. We chose fiber cement because it stands up to hail, cedar pollen, and years of sun with little upkeep. On-site work ran February 11 through 14, 2023, and included reframing the gable vents.

First contact
This was a returning client who came back to Austin Pro on Oct 11, 2022. They already knew our work from a previous job, so the conversation started with trust. We talked through replacing the aging siding and giving the home a full repaint.
Evaluation
We inspected the existing exterior and gable vents to plan the swap. The old siding showed the wear typical of Cedar Park homes exposed to heat, hail, and pollen. We confirmed HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill as the right fit for the walls.
Planning & approval
The project was approved the same day as first contact, Oct 11, 2022. We finalized the 8.25" Primed Select Cedar Mill selection and the Sherwin Williams Exterior Latex color plan. Materials were scheduled through ABC Supply Co.
Installation
The crew removed and reframed the gable vents, then installed the new HardiePlank. Once the siding was set, the paint team coated the walls, fascia, soffit, doors, gutters, and downspouts. Two rounds of yard cleanup kept the site tidy.
Completion

Why did this Cedar Park home need new siding?
Older siding in the Cedar Park area takes a beating. Our summers push past 100°, hail rolls through most springs, and cedar pollen coats everything. Wood and older board siding warp, crack, and soak up moisture over time.

For the finish, we used Sherwin Williams Exterior Latex. It bonds well to primed Hardie and resists fading under harsh sun.
