The Journey

First Contact

The homeowner found us through our website and reached out on January 17, 2023. They were looking for a full exterior update on their Ridgewood home, starting with siding and windows. Early conversations covered the aging wood trim and their goal of a lower-maintenance exterior.

Evaluation

We inspected the home and moved it to prospect stage by January 26. Our assessment turned up softened fascia, sun-faded siding, and windows well past their prime. The limestone soil and years of Central Texas heat had taken a clear toll on the original exterior.

Planning & Approval

We built out a full-exterior scope covering siding, windows, roofing, fascia, and a patio cover. The homeowner approved the project on March 17, 2023. Windows were ordered soon after through NT Window, since custom units set the whole project timeline.

Installation

The windows arrived at our warehouse in April, and our crew installed them over several days in May. Siding went up next, using James Hardie HardiePlank Select Cedar Mill and vertical panels, along with new 6-inch fascia. We then added the shingle roof and patio cover, and wrapped up with paint and two rounds of yard cleanup.

Completion

Why did this Ridgewood home need new siding?

What did the crew find on site?

Once we started pulling boards, the story got clearer. This home was built during Cedar Park's big 1990s growth, and the original wood-based trim had been fighting the climate ever since. We found fascia that had gone spongy in spots, which tells you moisture had been sitting there for a while. The limestone-heavy soil in this area keeps drainage tricky, so trim near the roofline takes a beating. That is exactly why we swapped in James Hardie 6-inch fascia with a 1x2 detail instead of patching the old wood. A homeowner who just repaints rotten fascia gets maybe a year before it fails again.
