Siding
This Marble Falls siding project replaced worn cladding with James Hardie HardiePlank in the Custom Colonial Cedar Mill texture. Fiber cement holds up to Central Texas heat and hail far better than older wood siding. We handled a full tear off, new fascia and soffit, and a Cedarmill porch ceiling. A coat of Sherwin Williams SuperPaint sealed the whole exterior for years of protection.

November 20, 2024The homeowner found Austin Pro through our Better Business Bureau listing and reached out on November 20, 2024. Early conversations focused on replacing tired siding and aging windows on their Castlelake home in Marble Falls.

December 3, 2024We completed an on-site review by December 3, 2024. We flagged the worn siding, dated fascia and soffit, and noted the porch ceiling would need rebuilding. The inspection also revealed a likely second layer of siding hidden beneath the surface.
Planning & approval
December 16, 2024The homeowner approved the scope on December 16, 2024. We finalized the James Hardie HardiePlank Custom Colonial Cedar Mill profile, the NT Windows replacement package, and a Sherwin Williams SuperPaint finish. Installation

Why did this Marble Falls home need new siding?
The old siding had reached the end of its life and was hiding a second layer underneath. Central Texas is hard on exteriors, and this home showed it. Years of 100-degree summers, spring hail, and swelling from limestone-heavy soil had taken a toll.

What did the crew find during tear-off?
The biggest surprise was the double layer of siding. Someone had installed newer siding right over the original instead of removing it first. That traps moisture and adds weight, and it hides rot that can spread unseen for years. We tore both layers down to the sheathing so we could inspect and start clean. This is where homeowners often get burned by cheaper bids, because a proper tear-off costs more up front but prevents far bigger repairs later.

What materials did we use, and why?
We went with James Hardie fiber cement in the HardiePlank Custom Colonial Cedar Mill profile. Fiber cement holds up to hail and heat far better than wood or vinyl, and it won't warp or feed cedar pollen buildup the way soft materials can. The Cedar Mill texture gives the home a natural wood-grain look without the rot and repainting that real cedar demands in this climate. We finished it with Sherwin Williams SuperPaint, chosen for its color hold under harsh Hill Country sun.

How did the window replacement fit in?
We swapped the home's aging units for NT Windows vinyl replacements while the exterior was open. Doing both jobs together let us seal the window flashing cleanly against the new siding. That tighter seal matters a lot in older homes that leak air around every frame.
