What We Did
Simonton Daylight Max Vinyl Replacement Window Installation · James Hardie Select Cedar Mill Fiber Cement Siding and Exterior Painting
Windows
This Windows project in Pflugerville, TX, used Simonton Daylight Max vinyl replacement windows. White interiors and exteriors kept the window finish consistent on both sides. We included closed-cell spray foam and white caulk in the installation. The result was a completed window replacement as part of a larger exterior project.

This Siding project in Pflugerville, TX, used James Hardie 8.25-inch Select Cedar Mill fiber cement siding. Fiber cement was a practical choice for an exterior exposed to Central Texas heat and storms. We coordinated the siding work with new windows and exterior painting. The three trades were completed during one four-day site visit.

Exterior Painting in Pflugerville rounded out this three-service project. Sherwin Williams was the selected vendor for the painting trade. The crew completed that work alongside window replacement and fiber cement siding. All on-site work finished within the August 4–7 installation window.

How It Went
The Journey
From the first phone call to the final walkthrough — what actually happened on this project.
First contact
May 29, 2025The homeowner found Austin Pro through Google and reached out on May 29, 2025. They wanted help with windows and siding at their Pflugerville home, and we arranged to look at both.
Evaluation
We inspected the home on May 29 and began the estimate. The assessment covered the planned replacement windows and siding work; a window technician also measured for the window order.
Planning & approval
June 2, 2025The homeowner approved the project on June 2, 2025. The plan paired Simonton Daylight Max vinyl windows with James Hardie Select Cedar Mill fiber cement siding and exterior painting. We ordered the windows June 17, and they arrived in mid-July.
Installation
The window crew installed the replacement units over two days in late July, using OSI closed-cell spray foam and white caulk. The siding and painting phase ran from August 4 through August 7. That later four-day period included the final paint touch-ups.
Completion
August 7, 2025The crew finished its on-site work on August 7, 2025. By then, the replacement windows, fiber cement siding, and exterior painting were complete.

The Full Story
Inside This Project
How did this Pflugerville window and siding project begin?
The homeowner found us through Google and reached out on May 29, 2025. We inspected the home and began the estimate that same day, looking at the window and siding work together rather than treating them as unrelated requests. The homeowner approved the project on June 2.
That order of decisions mattered. A combined job still has separate material and crew schedules, and the Daylight Max windows needed to be measured and ordered before installation. The siding work had its own finish phase, including painting and touch-ups. Thinking of everything as one four-day installation would miss the window crew's two days on site in late July. The August 4–7 dates describe the later siding and paint work, not the first time a crew worked at the house.
What did we check before ordering the replacement windows?
A window technician measured for the replacement work before the Simonton order was placed. The installation scope covered standard-size windows up to 132 united inches, a sizing category used to plan labor. That number describes the scope category; it is not a count of windows or a claim that every opening measured the same.
- The homeowner selected white for both the interior and exterior window finishes.
- The windows were ordered June 17 and arrived in mid-July.
- Installation materials included OSI foam cleaner for work involving the specified spray foam.
- Delivery and removal were included in the window portion of the project.
Why use these materials on a Central Texas exterior?
The window choice was Simonton Daylight Max vinyl, while the siding choice was James Hardie 8.25-inch Select Cedar Mill fiber cement. Those are different materials doing different jobs. Vinyl provides the specified replacement window frame; fiber cement gives the siding its cedar-grain appearance without using wood boards. For a Pflugerville exterior that faces 100°+ summer days, that material distinction is worth understanding before you compare products by appearance alone.
The installation details matter just as much as the names on the products. We used OSI closed-cell spray foam and Sherwin-Williams Power House white caulk in the window work because the space around a replacement unit needs attention, not just the unit itself. The siding and painting phase then addressed the surrounding exterior. A homeowner can easily focus on glass and siding color while missing those less visible installation materials. Here, both the products and the materials used to fit them were part of the plan.
When did the window crew work, and when did siding begin?
The window crew installed the replacement units over two days in late July, after the mid-July delivery. The siding phase began August 4 and continued through August 7. We kept those periods separate in the schedule because they were separate stretches of on-site work.
- The window order followed the homeowner's June 2 approval.
- The siding crew worked with 8.25-inch Select Cedar Mill fiber cement boards.
- Exterior painting was one of the three services included in the job.
- August 7 was the last day of work at the home, including final touch-ups.
How did painting fit into the siding work?
Painting was part of this exterior project, not a separate improvement added after the siding crew left. Sherwin Williams supplied the painting materials, and the crew handled final touch-ups during the August 4–7 on-site window. The window finishes were specified as white, but that specification should not be mistaken for a stated siding paint color.
- Siding, painting, and touch-ups shared the final four-day work period.
- The selected siding has a Select Cedar Mill surface pattern.
- Window installation called for white Power House caulk.
- The project covered three trades: windows, siding, and exterior painting.
What was finished by August 7?
By August 7, the replacement windows, fiber cement siding, and exterior painting work were complete on site. The sequence let the window crew finish in late July before the final siding and paint days in August. For the homeowner, the result was one coordinated exterior project completed in two clearly timed installation phases.
- The window portion used Simonton Daylight Max vinyl units.
- James Hardie supplied the specified 8.25-inch siding product.
- Painting and final touch-ups closed out the August work.
- The crew's last on-site day was Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Straight Answers
Questions About This Project
Did the entire project take four days?
No. August 4–7 was the siding and painting window. The Simonton windows had already been installed over two days in late July, so the full on-site work took place in two periods.
What was the project budget range?
The combined windows, siding, and exterior painting project fell in the $15,000–$20,000 range. That range covers the overall job, rather than a price for one window or one siding board.
Does the caulk name mean the windows have a 60-year warranty?
No warranty term should be inferred from a material's name. Power House 60-year White Caulk identifies the specified Sherwin-Williams caulk; it does not state the warranty for the Simonton windows or their installation.
Why not schedule the siding as soon as the homeowner approved?
The windows were ordered June 17 and received in mid-July, after the June 2 approval. The crew installed them in late July, then carried out the siding and paint work in early August.
