Why did this Pflugerville home need a new roof?

What did the crew find during tear-off?

Once we pulled the old shingles, we inspected the bare deck for soft or rotted spots. This is the step most homeowners never see, and it's where a roof is truly won or lost. Any weak sheathing that gets shingled over becomes a leak or a sag within a few years. We swapped in new 7/16" x 4' x 8' OSB where the decking needed it, then laid a clean, solid base for everything above. That's the difference between a roof that lasts and one that fails early.

We chose GAF Timberline HDZ SG shingles because they hold up to Central Texas hail and hold their color under brutal sun. The full system matters more than any single piece. We paired the shingles with a complete venting package so the attic can actually move air.

How did we finish the roofline and trim?

We replaced the roofline with a full James Hardie package so the trim matches the durability of the new roof. Fiber cement won't rot, warp, or feed the pests that chew through wood in this climate. Then we painted it to seal and finish the look.
