Siding

James Hardie

This Buda siding project used James Hardie HardiePlank, a fiber cement lap siding built for Texas extremes. We tore off the aging exterior, addressed the sheathing, and installed the new boards over several days in early June. Fiber cement was chosen because it resists warping in 100-plus degree heat and stands up to hail. Sherwin Williams paint followed to seal and finish the whole home.

Windows

NT Windows

The window scope covered 8 replacement windows and 2 exterior doors using NT Windows products. We ordered the units in early April and received them in mid May. Install ran across two days that same month, ahead of the siding phase. The new windows seal tighter and cut heat gain during Buda's long, hot summers.

First Contact

The homeowner first reached out on February 26, 2026 after seeing one of our yard signs in the Goforth area of Buda. That same day became both the prospect and lead date, and we set up a visit to talk through siding and window needs.

Evaluation

During the assessment we looked over the aging exterior and the existing windows and doors. We noted worn siding, thin sealing spots, and the openings that needed replacing across the home in 78610.

PLanning & Approval

We built out the scope for James Hardie HardiePlank siding, paint, 8 windows, and 2 doors. The homeowner approved the project on March 31, 2026, and we ordered the NT Windows units in early April.

Installation

The windows arrived in mid May and we installed all 8 windows and both doors over two days that month. Siding began in early June and ran across several days, with Sherwin Williams paint following the install.

Completion

We completed and invoiced the project on June 15, 2026, then closed it out on June 25, 2026. A final walkthrough confirmed the new exterior, and we reviewed the James Hardie and NT Windows warranty coverage with the homeowner.

Siding in Buda | Austin Pro

We replaced the full exterior of a home in the Goforth area of Buda, TX with James Hardie HardiePlank siding, plus 8 new windows and 2 doors. The home now has a weather-tough shell built for Central Texas heat and hail.

Why did this Goforth home need new siding?

The old exterior on this Buda home had taken years of abuse from sun, storms, and cedar pollen. The material was fading and no longer sealing the way it should.

  • Sun-worn boards that had lost their finish
  • Gaps that let heat and dust push into the wall
  • An older home in the 78610 area due for a full refresh

What did the crew find during inspection?

Once we started pulling the old siding in early June, we got a clear look at what the wall was really doing. The sheathing had seen better days, and the previous install left thin spots where Buda's driving rain could work in behind the boards. Limestone-heavy soil in this part of Hays County shifts more than people expect, so any gaps only widen over time. We flagged these areas before the new siding went up rather than covering them. That step is where a lot of quick jobs cut corners, and it is exactly where water damage starts.

  • Weak points around the old exterior boards
  • Areas that needed attention before new siding
  • Prep work done ahead of the HardiePlank install

What materials did we use, and why?

We chose James Hardie HardiePlank because fiber cement is the right call for Buda's climate. It holds its shape when the mercury climbs past 100°, and it takes a hail hit far better than older siding. Wood swells and rots; vinyl can soften and warp in extreme heat. Fiber cement does neither, which is why we lean on it for Central Texas homes that see hard summers and rough spring storms. We finished the whole exterior with Sherwin Williams paint to lock in the color and add another layer of protection.

  • HardiePlank fiber cement lap boards from James Hardie
  • Sherwin Williams paint applied after siding install
  • Materials sourced through Southern Shingles and Gtown Lumber and Supply

How did the window and door install go?

We handled the 8 windows and 2 doors first, before any siding work began. The units came from NT Windows and were built for Central Texas weather. We ordered them in early April, received them in mid May, and installed over two days that same month.

  • 8 replacement windows across the home
  • 2 exterior doors swapped out
  • Install sequenced before the siding phase for a clean tie-in

What were the results?

The home now has a tight, uniform exterior that looks sharp and performs well. New windows cut heat gain, and the fiber cement shell protects the walls year-round.

  • A fresh, cohesive look on every side of the home
  • Better sealing at all window and door openings
  • An exterior built to ride out Buda summers and hail season

Frequently asked questions

How long did the whole project take from approval to finish?

The job was approved on March 31, 2026 and wrapped by June 15, 2026. Window lead time drove much of that stretch, since the NT Windows units took from early April to mid May to arrive.

Why is fiber cement siding a smart pick for Buda?

Buda swings from 100°-plus heat to hail-heavy spring storms, and shifting limestone soil adds stress to any structure. Fiber cement resists warping, cracking, and moisture better than wood or vinyl in those conditions.

What did this siding and window project cost?

This was a retail project in the $30k–$40k range. That covered full siding replacement, paint, 8 windows, and 2 doors on a single home.

Do the new windows and siding come with coverage?

Yes. James Hardie backs its fiber cement products, and NT Windows carries its own warranty on the units we installed. We walk every homeowner through their coverage at completion.
