Full GAF Timberline HDZ Roof Replacement with Golden Pledge Warranty | New 5-Inch Seamless Aluminum Gutters with Debris Guards

This Buda roofing project was a full tear-off and replacement using GAF Timberline HDZ SG architectural shingles. We stripped the roof to the decking, replaced bad OSB, and laid down synthetic underlayment plus ice and water shield. The HDZ line handles Central Texas hail and 100-degree summers better than old three-tab shingles. Fresh ridge venting and new flashing round out a roof built to last decades.

We installed new 5-inch seamless aluminum gutters to protect this Whispering Hollow home from Buda's heavy storm runoff. Seamless runs have far fewer joints than sectional gutters, so they leak less over time. We paired them with gutter guards to block cedar pollen and oak debris common to the area. The result moves water away from the foundation, which matters on Buda's shifting limestone soil.

The homeowner found us through a neighbor referral and reached out on June 16, 2023. That first call focused on storm damage to the roof and the likelihood of an insurance claim.
We inspected the existing comp shingle roof and confirmed it had reached the end of its life. The assessment showed the roof needed a full replacement rather than repairs, and we moved to prospect stage on June 28, 2023.
We built a full scope covering tear-off, decking repair, a complete GAF system, and new seamless gutters. The project was approved on July 6, 2023, structured as an insurance claim.
Over multiple days the crew stripped the roof to bare decking, replaced failed OSB panels, and installed FeltBuster underlayment and StormGuard shield. New Timberline HDZ shingles, Cobra ridge venting, flashing, and 5-inch seamless gutters followed.
Work wrapped on July 19, 2023, with a clean site and a fully weather-tight roof. The finished system was registered under the GAF Golden Pledge Warranty, and the project was invoiced on September 18, 2023 and closed October 9, 2023.
We replaced the full roof and gutter system on a home in Whispering Hollow, Buda, TX, using GAF Timberline HDZ shingles and new 5-inch seamless aluminum gutters. The result is a weather-tight, storm-ready exterior built for Central Texas summers.
This was an insurance claim after storm damage, which is common across Buda after a hard hail season. The existing roof had run its course and needed a full replacement, not a patch.
Once we pulled the old shingles, we removed the felt all the way down to the plywood so we could inspect every inch of the deck. That step is one homeowners often skip to save money, and it's a mistake. Hidden soft spots and water-damaged OSB will telegraph right through a brand-new roof if you shingle over them. We found areas that needed fresh 7/16-inch OSB sheathing, so we swapped those panels before laying anything new. Buda's mix of heat and sudden storms punishes a deck over the years, and a solid base is the whole reason a roof lasts.
We chose GAF Timberline HDZ shingles because they hold up to hail and hold their color under relentless Texas sun. The layered architectural design resists the wind uplift that comes with fast-moving Hill Country storms. Underneath, we built a full system rather than just slapping down shingles. FeltBuster synthetic underlayment stays stable in the heat, and StormGuard ice and water shield protects the vulnerable spots where leaks usually start. This layered approach is what qualifies a roof for the strongest GAF warranty.
A hot Buda attic bakes shingles from below and drives up cooling bills all summer. We installed a proper exhaust vent along the ridge to let that trapped heat escape.
We finished the job with new 5-inch seamless aluminum gutters and matching guards. Seamless runs cut down on the joints where leaks and clogs start.
Moving water away from the base of the house matters here. Buda's limestone soil shifts as it dries and swells, and pooling water near a foundation only makes that worse.
The crew worked across multiple days to complete the full tear-off, decking repairs, new roof, and gutters. All installation was finished by July 19, 2023.
They stand up to hail and hold their seal in 100-plus-degree heat far better than older three-tab shingles. The heavier profile also resists the wind that comes off Central Texas storms.
A full roof replacement with new seamless gutters like this one falls in the $20,000 to $25,000 range. This was handled as an insurance claim, which often covers storm-related roof work.
This roof is covered by the GAF Golden Pledge Warranty, the best coverage GAF offers. It requires a certified installer and a full system install, both of which we met on this shingle roofing project.
